Lofi + Ambient Sound, Mixed Your Way

Lilo-Fi lets you layer one of eight ambient sounds - Rain, Vinyl, Fire, Ocean, Tape, Woods, River, or Storm - directly over the live lofi stream. You control both volumes independently, so you can run the music loud with a subtle crackle underneath, or push the rain up to mask a noisy environment while keeping the music quiet in the background.

The combination is more effective than either element alone. Lofi music without ambient layering can feel exposed in an inconsistent space - every lull in the music lets background noise in. Ambient sound alone can feel static. Together, they create a stable, continuous sonic environment that's genuinely easier to work inside for long stretches.

Eight Ambient Layers to Choose From

Each layer is a carefully looped, high-quality recording designed to sit naturally under music without pulling focus.

Rain is the most versatile - a natural pink noise that masks unpredictable background sounds and keeps your environment acoustically consistent. Storm takes that further with deeper, low-frequency rumble for heavier noise masking. River and Ocean work similarly but with more open, flowing character - better suited to relaxed or creative sessions.

Vinyl crackle and Tape hiss are textural rather than masking - they add the warmth of analogue media, especially useful for long reading sessions where you want atmosphere without density. Fire sits between the two categories: grounding, warm, and low-key stimulating in a way that works well for evening work or slower-paced tasks. Woods brings a gentle organic quality - birds, light breeze, the sense of space - that suits creative or reflective work.

How to Find Your Mix

The player starts with music only. Click any ambient icon beneath the player to activate that layer, then use the ambient volume control to dial it in. Start lower than you think - most people set it around 20-40% of the music level, just enough to fill the space without competing with the lofi.

If you're in a quiet room, you may not need ambient at all - or a low Vinyl crackle is often enough. In a busy office or café, Rain or Storm at higher levels will do the most work. For sleep or winding down, Ocean or River at higher ambient levels with the music turned down low or off entirely tends to work well.

There's no wrong answer. The eight layers are different enough that within a few sessions you'll settle into a default that matches how you work.

Just Sound. Nothing Else.

Lilo-Fi exists to create a listening environment, not to keep you in a product. No ads, no account, no onboarding, no notifications. Open a tab, build your mix, minimize it.

The stream runs continuously in the background. You don't need to return to the tab - it plays as long as the browser is open. Every element of the interface is optimised for one interaction: set it up once, then forget it exists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lilo-Fi has eight ambient layers you can mix over the live lofi stream: Rain, Vinyl crackle, Fire, Ocean, Tape hiss, Woods, River, and Storm. Each one is a continuous, looping audio layer. You control the volume independently from the music, so you can blend them however your environment and mood calls for - a quiet vinyl texture behind the music, or a full rain downpour that masks a noisy space.
